It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of (Mariann) Joyce Neilson on the morning of January 7, 2018, in Toronto, at the age of 89.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose Neilson (nee Brundle) of Liverpool, Nova Scotia,  and predeceased by sisters June (Carl) Hatt, and Eileen Craig.   Joyce is survived by her brother Bernard Neilson, sister Sally (Jim) Bush, and will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Debbie (Doug) Peel, David Bush, Jim Bush and their families.

Joyce was the Best Friend of Pamela Hamilton (Cameron Murray), and Super Nana to Darcy Hsing along with Andrew, Julia, Keara, and Stuart.  Heaven is simply a long distance call away and we will continue to love her and include her in our lives each and every day.  She was also great friends with her nephew Robert MacDonald who spoiled her with black licorice and frequent trips to table A10 at the Mandarin restaurant.  She will be greatly missed by many friends made over the years including Geraldine O’Reilly, Nathan, Derek, Cathy and Gwen of the Tara Restaurant where she ate every weekend for 29 years, Jean Ann Grey, Jenny Jukes, Hazel Luna and Frank and Marlene.

Thank you to the staff at Baycrest Hospital who showed great compassion and care for Joyce, and also to the entire staff at Retirement Suites By The Lake who immediately embraced us as family.

Visitation at PAUL O’CONNOR FUNERAL HOME, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E., (between Pharmacy and Warden) on Friday January 12, 2018 from 10-11am with service held at 11am followed by a light lunch.

Joyce was a very compassionate and generous person and supported CNIB for many years.  We would greatly appreciate donations to CNIB in her honor.
